Ecowoods
Ecowoods is a Bolivian enterprise that works with “madera recate” or left over wood. The workers are young men who leave the orphanages in the city. They learn a trade and begin a productive life. They also pay the designers of their wooden products. They have no store as all their products are exported. In AYNI we have beautifully finished wooden puzzles of endangered Bolivian animals. The high quality of these puzzles makes them very exportable all over the world. |
Creaciones
Estela
Estela is an independent artisan who makes her living with basketry and dolls. Her “cholitas” have caused a sensation for being very natural and joyful. Her products are utilitarian and serve for holding bread and napkins. She is under the simplified regimen and has no store. She sells in the street. At AYNI we have a variety of her designs in several colors. |

Kunturi
Kunturi is also the creation of a foreigner. Kunturi works with the handicapped specially the deaf, the mentally retarded and people with speaking problems. The workers are trained in the workshop and are given their meals there. They do not live there but rather with their own families. |

Paulino Esteban
Very few crafters of totora boats are left to demonstrate this skill. Paulino Esteban is one of these and he and his sons still build actual size copies of the Tigris, Ra Urus and other boats which have crossed the Atlantic Ocean proving that the continents could be reached before Spanish colonization began. Now he also makes miniature totora boats with exquisite detail in remembrance of his art. The sails can be folded down like a real boat. AYNI has replicas of the traditional boats as well as the transoceanic ones. |
Sumaj Ori
Sumaj Ori is a family of ceramic artisans who produce good quality ceramics and they have a variety of functional and decorative designs. Because this it the work of only one family their production is limited and exclusive. They have no store. They sell on the street corners. At AYNI we have some of their products which are packed specially for tourists who wish to take them home and be sure they won’t break. |

Tilinchos is an Aymara family which is dedicated exclusively to ceramic figures which are very popular in La Paz. By the colors and the smiling faces one knows that they are from La Paz but they are sold in all the Andean countries. This family has its own store and they are under the simplified regimen. At AYNI we have a variety of their figures, all different and representing the various activities of the Aymara people both in the country and in the city. We also have their cars and planes. |
